Three-Day Football Festival Kicks Off in Sunamganj

A three-day-long Football Festival 2025, organized by the former students of Haji Majid Ulla Public High School, was officially inaugurated in Sunamganj from June 8 to 10.
The inaugural ceremony took place at 10:00 AM on Sunday, June 8, at the school grounds of Haji Majid Ulla Public High School in Bishwamberpur upazila of Sunamganj district. The event was presided over by Advocate Pronab Kanti Das, the convener of Football Festival 2025, and hosted by former student lecturer Dulal Mia.
The festival was officially inaugurated through the national anthem and the hoisting of the national flag by founding teacher of the school, Abdul Majid, who was present as the chief guest. During the brief inaugural discussion, Acting Head Teacher Md. Saiful Islam delivered his speech as a special guest. The welcome address was given by former student Advocate Shahab Uddin Chowdhury.
The speakers said: “First, we express our deep respect to the school’s founder, donors, and former teachers. Today is undoubtedly a day of special joy and pride for us. The Football Festival 2025 has been organized by the former students of Haji Majid Ulla Public High School as an expression of love, gratitude, and unity toward their alma mater.
We believe that sports are essential for both physical and mental development. It is not just a source of entertainment but also a powerful means of building character. Through this festival, we want our younger brothers and sisters—the tender-hearted students of the school—to learn teamwork, leadership, tolerance, and a positive competitive spirit.
We extend our heartfelt greetings to all participants. Everyone will try their best on the field, but it is important to remember that honesty, respect, and sportsmanship are the true victories.”
Among others present at the event were senior teachers Kajol Talukdar and Chayon Talukdar, former UP member Monsur Noor Chowdhury, guardian Brojo Sundor Talukdar Akol, and former students and convening committee members Ali Noor Chowdhury, Nepal Chandra Das, Md. Shamsul Haque, Bidhan Das, Rajat Kanti Das Shambhu, Rabel Laheri, Habibur Rahman Chowdhury, Gour Chan Dey, Sobuj Chandra Dey, and Shah Alam.
