With the initiative of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Chittagong City Unit and in collaboration with Qatar Red Crescent, sacrificial meat has been distributed among hundreds of people in the city.

This meat distribution program was held among people of different professions and classes on Sunday at the Laldighi Par Public Library premises in the city.

Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain was present as the chief guest at the event. He said, “Sacrifice teaches us about sacrifice. Red Crescent volunteers are selflessly making the highest sacrifice and standing by the helpless people—this is the true example of humanity.”

The event was presided over by City Red Crescent Secretary Golam Baki Masud and was also attended by Executive Council members Dr. Farhanaz Mabud Silvi, Ziaul Haque Sohel, City Youth Red Crescent Chief A. N. M. Tamjeed, Head of Disaster and Humanitarian Response Department Md. Rakibul Islam and youth volunteers.

The president said that this initiative has been taken with the aim of spreading the joy of Eid among people from all walks of life.
