Four-member investigation committee formed to investigate Kalurghat accident, four railway employees temporarily suspended

A four-member investigation committee has been formed to investigate the accident that occurred on Kalurghat bridge in Chittagong.
Four railway employees have been initially suspended.
Those suspended are Tourist Express train guard Sohel Rana (Headquarters, Chittagong), Loco Master Golam Rasul (T No. 530), Assistant Loco Master Amin Ullah (T No. 723) and Temporary Gate Keeper (TLR) Mahbub.
The four-member investigation committee has been instructed to submit the investigation report within the next three days.
The other members of the committee, headed by the Divisional Transport Officer Chittagong, are DME (Loco), Chittagong, Divisional Engineer-1 and Divisional Physician, Pahartali, Chittagong.
It is worth mentioning that the tourist express train leaving Cox’s Bazar was involved in an accident on June 5 at 10 pm while crossing the Kalurghat Bridge in Chittagong when several vehicles disregarded the signal and went onto the bridge. Several people were injured in the accident. The injured are being treated at the Chittagong Railway General Hospital.
