In Joypurhat a kid’s body rescued from a toilet tank – 3 arrested

Police recovered the body of a baby named Radya Akhter Ruhi (4) six days after she was found dead in a toilet tank in Kalai, Joypurhat. On Friday (30 May) at 11:30 pm, the body of a baby was recovered from a toilet tank in Himail village of Matrai Union.
Police arrested Ruhi’s uncle from Himail village in Matarai Union, Rezoul Islam, Ruhi’s stepmother Abdur Rahman’s second wife Sonia, and Abdur Rahman’s father-in-law Zia Kasai, a resident of Shalattri village in Panchbibi Upazila, in connection with the incident. Police, local and family sources said that Ruhi was the daughter of the first wife of Abdur Rahman, a resident of Himail village in Kalai Upazila, and lived with mother. Ruhi used to visit her grandmother almost every day, despite her father’s extra efforts. On May 24, at around 11:30 am, Ruhi went to her father’s house to see her grandmother and did not return to her mother. When asked about Ruhi, her uncle and stepmother told her that she had been sent to her mother’s house as her grandmother was not there. When she could not find her in the evening, Ruhi’s mother started searching. On the 25th (25th), a general diary (GD) was filed at Kalai police station. After that, the police started an investigation and arrested suspected Ruhri’s father’s second-in-law, Zia Kasai,. He later confessed to killing Sonia Akhtar (Ruhri’s stepmother), Ruhri’s uncle Roni and her brother-in-law and dumping her body in the toilet of the house. Police arrested all the above three.Police recovered Ruhri’s body from the spot.
Kalai police station officer-in-charge (OC) Zahidi Hossain confirmed the incident and said that they have been arrested three persons on suspicion of involvement in the incident. They initially confessed that they were involved in murder during the interrogation. The investigation is ongoing. Necessary legal action will be taken against the murderers.
