3-day land fair and land week begins in Gopalganj with various events

Like the rest of the country, the 3-day (May 25 to 27) Land Fair and Land Service Week-2025 has begun in Gopalganj with various arrangements in five upazilas of the district. On the occasion of the Bhoomi Mela celebration, a colorful procession was organized by the Gopalganj District Administration on Sunday (May 25) at 10 am from in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s building under the leadership of Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate (Joint Secretary) Muhammad Kamruzzaman, with the spontaneous participation of people from all classes and professions. The procession circled the city’s main streets and ended back there. Later, a public awareness discussion meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room “Swachhta” on the occasion of the land fair celebration under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) SM Tarek Sultan. At the event, he delivered a welcome speech and highlighted the various action plans of the current interim government regarding land to build a modern Bangladesh and deliver people-friendly land services to the doorsteps of the public. Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate (Joint Secretary) Muhammad Kamruzzaman spoke as the chief guest at the public awareness meeting moderated by Assistant Commissioner (RDC, LAO) Prabir Biswas, while District Police Superintendent Md. Mizanur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Golam Kabir, Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Executive Officer M. Rakibul Hasan, Gopalganj District BNP Convener Bir Muktijoddha Sharif Rafiquzzaman, District Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdul Wahab Mollah, Gopalganj District and Sessions Judge Court Government Prosecutor (GP) Adv. MA Alam Selim, among others, spoke as special guests. The Deputy Commissioner said in his speech that the Ministry of Land has already taken various activities to reach the people through automation of land-related services. As a result, the people of the country are now able to perform various land-related activities online, including e-registration, online land development tax (Khajna), smart land records and maps, e-portage applications, land information verification and smart land design, and many more. The Deputy Commissioner also said that people will be able to easily pay land development tax online, register, apply for e-namjari, issue compensation checks for settled LA cases, receive applications for certified copies of ledgers online, supply online mouza maps through the postal department, hold public hearings on ongoing survey programs at the field level, take objections or appeals, submit and settle activities, and provide direct answers to various queries of service recipients at the land fairs starting from today, May 25, to May 27, at the Gopalganj Sadar, Kotalipara, Tungipara, Kashiani, Muksudpur Upazila Land Office premises. At that time, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Government Women’s College Principal Professor Sheikh Benazir Ahmed, Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Babli Shabnam, District Ansar and VDP Commandant Mojibul Haque (BVMS), Sheikh Hasina Government Girls’ High School and College Principal Shahnaz Reza Annie, District Fire Service and Civil Defense Deputy Assistant Director Shiplu Ahmed, Sadar Upazila Statistics Officer Ujjwal Biswas, officials at various levels of government and private organizations, teachers of various educational institutions, stakeholders, and media personnel working in various print and electronic media in the district were present. Later, the Deputy Commissioner, along with the invited guests, reached the Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Land Office and announced the official inauguration of the Land Fair-2025 by releasing colorful balloons and cutting the ribbon. At this time, he handed over to several service recipients the settled LA branch compensation check, copy of e-registration, mouza map and other previously requested urgent documents related to land.
