A roundtable discussion meeting was held in Koyra on climate change and internal migration.

A roundtable discussion on climate change, disaster risk reduction, and internal migration was held at the hall room of Uttar Bedkashi Collegiate School on Monday (May 19) at 10 am.Founded by Caritas Germany/ BMZ.Organized by DRR & CCA project, Caritas Bangladesh Khulna region.
The meeting was chaired by UP Chairman Nurul Islam.The keynote speaker at the meeting was Kakuli haldar advocacy coordinator. members of the Uttar Bedkashi Union and Ward Disaster Management Committees, CPP members, civil society, journalists, NGO representatives, representatives of local displaced people were present.
Upazila Executive Officer Ruli Biswas, said, “The level of various disasters due to climate change is increasing every year. Due to the accumulation of sediment in rivers, the sea level is increasing and the rivers are overflowing, flooding vast areas. As a result, people are becoming helpless due to the breach of embankments. As a result, the number of internal migrations is increasing day by day. For this, alternative employment arrangements need to be made. He also said, this kind of program is the first for this upazila, so I will try to present your well-thought-out opinions on today’s program to the higher authorities so that they can be included in the next five-year plan and play a helpful role in reducing the impact of climate change.”
As a keynote speaker Kakuli haldar said, human society is mainly responsible for climate change. All animals and biodiversity are being severely affected due to humans. Due to deforestation, factories, vehicles, etc., the amount of carbon dioxide is increasing and the amount of oxygen is decreasing.  To prevent this environmental disaster, we need to plant more trees.
