A press conference was held in protest of the human chain and demonstration against the superintendent of Atgaon Shukdebpur Dakhil Madrasa in Jamalganj Upazila of Sunamganj district.
The press conference took place on Tuesday, May 13, at 11 AM at the Shaheed Muktijoddha Jagatjyoti Public Library Auditorium in Sunamganj town. The written statement at the press conference was read by Abdul Mokabbir, the current member of Ward No. 2 of Sachnabazar Union Parishad, Jamalganj.
In the press conference, he stated that a certain group organized a human chain on Monday morning in front of the madrasa at Shukdebpur Bazar demanding the resignation of Superintendent Maulana Mahmudul Hasan based on false, baseless, and fabricated allegations. He strongly condemned and protested such heinous actions.
He said, “Maulana Mahmudul Hasan has been serving with honesty and dedication as the superintendent of Atgaon Shukdebpur Dakhil Madrasa for the past 30 years. However, violating the rules and regulations of the madrasa, a particular clique is trying to exploit the institution for their own interest. They are conspiring in various ways to tarnish the reputation and social standing of the superintendent.”
He further claimed, “Those who are protesting against the superintendent are individuals who have previously failed to become members of the madrasa’s managing committee, failed to get employed despite applying for jobs, were denied illegal donations for events, or could not acquire madrasa land at a cheap price. These reasons have led them to launch a personal vendetta against him.”
He also mentioned, “These conspirators have filed various complaints against the superintendent with government administrative offices. But being unable to prove these false allegations, they are becoming increasingly desperate. Among the false allegations is embezzlement of funds. They are continuously harassing him with false complaints and trying to defame him both socially and within his family.”
He concluded by saying, “These conspiracies not only defame the superintendent but also bring dishonour to the institution. We demand that those involved in such conspiracies and misdeeds be brought under the law and given exemplary punishment.”
Present at the press conference were local resident Zahur Uddin (son of Abdul Khalik), Mahfuz Hasan (son of Mahmudul Hasan), Moshiur Alam (son of Munazzir Ali), and Zahur Mia (son of Abdul Samad), among others.
