A press conference was held to protest the dissemination of baseless, fabricated and edited videos on social media platforms Facebook and YouTube against Munjur Morshed, the acting principal of Sariakandi Degree College in Bogura. At the press conference organized at the Sariakandi Upazila Online Press Club on Thursday (May 8) evening, Acting Principal Munjur Morshed said, “I joined the college as vice-principal on December 4, 2011, and after August 5, 2024, as the main principal of the college was absconding, I took over the responsibility as per the notification of the Ministry of Education. “As per government instructions, the Upazila Executive Officer took over as the president of the college management committee and in the presence of all the teachers, staff, students and administration, it was decided to put me in charge.” He alleged, “Two or four self-interested teachers who want to usurp the position of principal illegally have artificially edited videos by inserting my picture and adding someone else’s audio, so that my image can be tarnished and I can be removed from my post.” Principal Munjur Morshed claimed that the audio clip used in the video was completely edited and misleading. He strongly condemned and protested against such propaganda and said, “This video is conspiratorial, inciting revenge, and just an attempt to defame me.” He told journalists, “Journalists are the mirror of society.” Therefore, I request you to verify the truth, analyze the facts and evidence before presenting the news, so that no innocent person is harmed.
