Rashedul Islam, DHaka
After a long decade and a half, the rightful owner of the land in Rupganj, Narayanganj, regained ownership.
By abusing the power of the MP ministers of the autocratic Awami League government, Mozammel Haque forcibly occupied 6 percent of the 20.5 percent of land in plot number 105 in Bagber Mouza of the upazila.
When the Awami League government fell last year, the real owners got the land back through judicial arbitration.
The current owner, Rashedul Islam, built a boundary wall on the reclaimed land on Saturday (May 10) morning.
The actual owner of the land is the deceased Abul Hossain. After his death, his five sons became the owners of the land. Their total land area is 20.5 percent, of which 6 percent was occupied.
It is learned that the deceased Abul Hossain is the actual owner of 20.5 percent of the land at plot number 105 in Bagber Mouza, Rupganj.
After his death, Md. Arif and his five sons became the owners of the land.
However, when the Awami League government came to power in 2009, Mozammel Haque alias Maga forcibly seized this land, claiming to be a follower of then-MP Golam Dastagir Gazi.
After 17 long years, when the Awami League government fell, the real owner’s partners got back the occupied land through arbitration with prominent people in the area.
Later, the five sons of the late Abul Hossain, the actual owner of the land, sold the land to Rashedul Islam.
In this regard, Md. Arif, son of the late Abul Hossain Mia, said, “Awami League ally Mozammel Haque alias Maga had forcibly occupied 6 percent of our land for a long time.”
After the fall of the Awami League government, we re-measured the area with the help of prominent people in the area and got the land back. Later, we sold the land to Rashedul Islam.
He also said, “For 17 years, they have illegally occupied our land and rented out shops.”
We have lost about 1 to 2 crore taka due to this. This is our ancestral property.
Earlier, last Saturday, a trial was held with local dignitaries, lawyers from both sides, upazila administrative officials, and individuals from the area.
At that time, Mozammel Haque’s lawyer could not submit the correct documents regarding the ownership of the land.
Moreover, since the amount of land purchased was more within Mozammel Haque’s boundary, he gave the remaining land to Rashedul Islam as a legalization.
Later, on Saturday, Rashedul Islam started building a boundary wall on his land and got his money back.
Present at the trial were Rashedul Islam’s lawyer Ripon Sharma, Mozammel Haque’s lawyer Mohsin Prodhan, Rupganj Upazila Jubo Dal leader Abu Mohammad Masum, Rupganj Zia Mancha president Judge Mia, Shahidullah Mia, Fazul Haque Mia, Nur Mohammad, landowner Rashedul Islam, Mozammel Haque (MGA) and many others.
After reviewing the documents of both parties, the court unanimously measured the land of Rashedul Islam and Mozammel Haque and assigned it separately.
The consent dispute was later resolved by breaking down a boundary wall.
Judge Mia, who was in charge of the trial, said that there was a dispute between Rashedul Islam and Mozammel Haque over a piece of land in the Bagber area.
Later, a court of arbitration was held with people from both sides, including lawyers, and dignitaries to resolve the matter.
The correct solution has been given after reviewing the documents of both parties. From now on, there will be no dispute between any party regarding that land.
In this regard, Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liaqat Ali said that in order to maintain law and order, arrangements were made for both parties to sit down with lawyers to resolve the land dispute.
Later, the land documents were reviewed and resolved through lawyers from both sides.
