Barhatta Police have arrested a Chhatra League leader named Robin in connection with the attack on the house of Chiram Union BNP President Nayan Talukder by Chhatra League members in Barhatta.

He was arrested from Kadamtala area of ​​Asma Union by Barhatta Police Station on Saturday morning through a special operation. Robin is the son of Inchan Mia of Brikalika area.

Context: The house of Chiram Union BNP President Nayan Talukder in the Old Court Road area was attacked and vandalized around 8 pm on Monday. At that time, the people inside the house protected themselves by closing the door.

Swapan Talukder, brother of BNP leader Nayan Talukder, filed a complaint with the police station on Tuesday, the day after the incident, against neighboring banned Chhatra League leaders Rocky Sheikh, Robin Sheikh and their father Inchan Sheikh. CCTV footage showed Robin and Rocky vandalizing the house and shop.

Swapan Talukder, brother of BNP leader Nayan Talukder, said, “Our neighbors Rocky Sheikh and Robin Sheikh are leaders of the banned organization Chhatra League. They tortured us during the Awami League period. They took extortion from business establishments. Their extortion has not decreased after the Awami League government left. They still come to shops and take goods without paying. They do not take money from bKash. They threaten us if we protest. Even during this period, we BNP people are being attacked by Chhatra League. There is CCTV footage of their attack. We have given this footage to the police station.”

He further said, “On Monday night, Rocky Sheikh, his brother Robin Sheikh and their father Inchan Sheikh came to the house with Ramda and country-made weapons after the ransom money was not paid. The family members blocked the door of the house to save their lives and smashed the window glass. I have filed a complaint with the police station regarding this incident.”

Barhatta Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Kamrul Hasan said that Robin Mia, the accused in the attack on BNP leader Nayan Talukder’s house in the court building area and banned Chhatra League leader, has been arrested and sent to Netrokona court. The process of arresting other accused is underway. Four other cases, including a murder case, are pending against Robin Mia.
