A wife has been accused of killing her husband by mixing poison with food in Sirajdikhan, Munshiganj. It is alleged that the wife committed this incident because of her extramarital affair with her tutor.

The incident took place on Sunday (April 6) night. The deceased person is an employee of Khulna Petto Mex Company, his name is Md. Mattin Chokder (34). He is the son of the deceased Nurul Islam Chokder of Ror Shikarpur village of Keyain Union of Sirajdikhan Upazila.
According to the family sources of the deceased, the deceased Matin Chokder had a dispute with his wife Shahida Akhter over various issues regarding the extramarital affair of Md. Mazharul Islam, a teacher at Sirajdikhan Baraihaji Ashraful Uloom International Madrasa. On April 6, after returning home from Khulna, Md. Matin fell ill after eating dinner and lying down at 11 pm. An hour and a half later, the deceased’s wife Shahida said that her husband Md. Matin was not making any sound, so she informed all of us about the matter. That night, we took the unconscious Matin to Nimtala Public Service Hospital, where the doctor on duty at the hospital declared Matin Chokder dead.
They also said that Shahida’s son-in-law, Akhter, gave him poison along with finni and rice. Although they had a slight suspicion about it, they could not fully understand it. Md. Matin Chokder started suffering from various pains in his stomach and chest for about an hour after eating, and then fell asleep.
The deceased’s mother, Amela Begum, filed a written complaint at Sirajdikhan Police Station on Friday afternoon in this incident. In addition, preparations are underway for a case without taking into account the charge of murder for unknown reasons.
The deceased’s elder brothers Md. Shah Alam Chokder, Md. Borhan Chokder, Md. Nadim Chokder and neighbors said that Shahadat had been in Khulna for a long time. When he returned to the area last April, he had a dispute with his wife Shahida Akhter (26) due to the teacher’s extramarital affair. At one point, the wife went to her father’s house. He was brought back home two days ago.
The brothers of the deceased Matin Chokder alleged that on Sunday night, his wife Shahida Akhter mixed poison with his food. Shortly after, he fell ill and died at home around 11:30 pm. Later, when the family members came to know about it, they took him to Nimtala Janaseba Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Shahed Alam Mamun, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sirajdikhan Police Station, said that the relatives of the deceased are alleging murder today, Friday afternoon. The victim’s mother Amela Begum has filed a complaint. But the body has not been buried. Legal action will be taken after an investigation.
