Cox’s Bazar District Jamaat Workers’ Conference

SM Humayun Kabir, Cox’s Bazar
Commenting on the issue of religion, Bangladesh belongs to all of us, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “We do not accept majority or minority in our country at all. Everyone born in Bangladesh is a dignified and proud citizen of this country.” Islam has no right to impose its will on anyone. No other religion can impose its will on any religion if it is a religion. Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the district Jamaat workers’ conference held in Cox’s Bazar after a long 15 years on Saturday morning. Shafiqur Rahman said that a war was waged within society between the majority and the minority. Here, for centuries, brothers and sisters of different religions have been tortured by the majority as if they were minorities, their wealth has been seized, their land has been seized, their honor has been violated, and in some cases, their homes have been burned down. And the blame has been placed on Jamaat-e-Islami. He requested people of different religions to help us by clearly identifying where Jamaat workers have committed these crimes in the 54 years of independence. I promise you, we will deliver justice to you. We are sure that our colleagues are not involved in this crime. Respecting the revolutionary generation of the 24th century, the Amir said, “We were under your leadership.” We have been protesting under our leadership for 15 and a half years.
But we could not bring down the dictatorship. That is the truth. But under your leadership for 15 and a half years, the nation dealt the final blow to fascism and the nation succeeded. Referring to the movement’s mastermind, he said, “Many claim credit for it themselves. I am the mastermind, so-and-so brother is the mastermind, so-and-so leader is the mastermind.” The plan of the great planner, the great Rabbul Al Amin, has been implemented. We do not believe in any mastermind here. Dr. Shafiq also said, “Many countries in the world have stood tall after gaining independence. That was our hope that we would also stand tall like that. But in reality, that hope was not fulfilled.” If I say it was not fulfilled at all, it would not be true. But people had huge expectations that it would be fulfilled. We have not yet got an independent judicial system. Referring to the injustice done to his party, the Jamaat Amir said, “Those who committed illegal acts in the arena of law, came and kicked the door of the Chief Justice, and the Awami League made them Supreme Court judges.” It is natural that we will not get justice from them. Therefore, 11 of our top leaders, pieces of our liver, have left this world as victims of injustice. They were killed in cold blood in the name of justice. We do not believe in revenge, but we definitely want justice for the wrongdoings. Our words are clear. All murders must be brought to justice. Especially the genocide of 24 must be tried. First the trial, then other work. If this trial is not held, the martyr’s soul will suffer.
In addition, regarding the statement of former IGP Benazir Ahmed, which recently went viral on social media, he requested the police force, saying, “I am telling the police brothers not to fall into Benazir’s trap.” The conference, organized by the Cox’s Bazar district branch of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, began at 9 am on Saturday (February 8) at Cox’s Bazar Government College grounds. The conference was chaired by Cox’s Bazar District Jamaat Ameer Principal Nur Mohammad Anwari, and was addressed as special guests by Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad, Muhammad Shahjahan, and Chattogram Metropolitan Jamaat Ameer Shahjahan Chowdhury, along with top party leaders. The party’s leaders and workers are excited to receive such a big event after a long time. The entire city of Cox’s Bazar is decorated with colorful banners, festoons, and arches surrounding the workers’ conference.
