Netrokona Model Police Station has arrested Ramzan Mia (30), a suffocating husband, for murdering his wife Salma Begum (24) by choking her to death over a family dispute. The incident took place late on Tuesday night in Amtala Purbapara village of Amtala Union in Netrokona Sadar Upazila. According to local residents and police sources, Ramzan Mia, son of Md. Hashem Mia of Amtola Purbapara village of Amtola union of Sadar upazila of Netrokona district, got married to Salma Begum, daughter of Altu Mia of Palgaon Ranahijal village of Mohanganj upazila about 6 years ago. Since their marriage, they have been living in Mirpur area of ​​Dhaka for most of their lives. They have a son who is 4 years old. Ramzan Mia often asked his wife Salma Begum for money to gamble. They often quarreled over this. Ramzan Mia came to Netrokona house from Dhaka several days ago. Ramzan Mia arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday morning. He went to his wife Salma Begum and said, “He is well, he is in a house in Netrokona.” The house was rented. From now on, the husband and wife were tempted to live together happily and peacefully, and at around 9 pm, the wife brought the child to their village house in Netrokona. Late at night, Ramzan Mia tied a shoelace (sneakers) around the neck of his wife Salma Begum and suffocated her to death. To avoid responsibility for the crime, Ramzan Mia hung his head on the bed and started screaming. Hearing the screams, the neighbors came to the spot and informed the police. The police quickly reached the spot and arrested the husband Ramzan Mia. Later, the body was sent to the Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. When I spoke to Netrokona Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Kazi Shah Newaz in this regard, he confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the deceased’s brother Sabuj Mia filed a murder case with the police station on Wednesday afternoon, accusing her husband Ramzan Mia and four other family members.
