DC Park is in the Fozdarhat Sangalgan area between Chittagong and Sitakunda. Being the outer ring road of Chittagong city, it is a very busy road. Where heavy vehicles like lorry trucks and caravans are always moving. Basically, lorry and caravan drivers often engage in arguments with parking lessees on the issue of parking. It has been found that a lease has been given in front of DC Park for a monthly rental agreement of approximately 1 lakh taka. Where a small car, a king or a micro, is charged 50 taka for parking, and a large house minibus is charged 200 taka, and that has not stopped CNG and rickshaws and those who have to pay 30 taka if they park their vehicles in front of DC Park. If there was not much parking space before, now the lessees have taken a large area for parking. Since then, they have become reckless. A lorry driver said that they often have arguments with people parking in front of DC Park. There were also scuffles 10-15 days ago. Local sources have informed that this busy road often has long traffic jams and in those jams, cars stall in front of the parking lot. An eyewitness at the park, who did not want to be named, told Morning Glory that when there was a traffic jam on the road this afternoon, the lorry stopped in front of the park like every day, and the driver of Chatta Metro-2052 lorry, Monir, had arguments with the people parking there. Later, when a few more lorry drivers got together and got into an argument with them, a group of lessees and some people in charge of the park beat them up. A couple of hours after this incident, about a hundred lorry drivers, including the owner, attacked the park. In this incident, 10-15 people in the park were seriously injured and one of them, Riaz, was pelted with stones, a local source confirmed. Meanwhile, following this incident, it is reported that lorry drivers of Chittagong Port have blocked the road leading to the port and stopped all vehicle movement.
