An uncle has been accused of forcibly occupying his nephews’ land in aiksyangchhari, Bandarban. This sensational incident took place in the Cherarkul area of Sadar Union of Naiksyangchhari Upazila. In this incident, nephew Md. Mizanul Haque alleged that his uncle, the late Jal Quader’s son Abul Shama, has been illegally occupying the land for 20 years by force. The truth of the incident was revealed when we went to the scene at 11 am on Monday (February 2). It is learned that Abul Shama and Abu Bakkar Siddique Gangra have been illegally occupying land in the Khatian and Holding Nos. 246, 213, 539, 183, 202, 129, 114/188 and 204 of Mouza No. 270 of Naikshongchhari Upazila. Mizanul Haque said that when we went to ask for my father’s inheritance and land registered in the register, the previous Awami Fascist government abused its power and filed multiple false cases against us for harassment, Case No. CR 31/2017 in the Magistrate’s Court, and Non GR 64/2017 in the Bandarban Magistrate’s Court. The verdict in the case filed by Abul Shama Gangra against us, the heirs, was in our favor on 08/07/2019 and 30/01/2020. Abul Shama and Abu Bakkar Siddique told the gangs to give up our land, and if they obstructed the land acquisition, they often threatened to kidnap, disappear, or kill us. Victim Md. Mizanul Haque also said that I have been visiting various government offices for a long time for my father’s ancestral property, but I have not received any solution or legal assistance anywhere. My family is being harassed in various ways by filing lawsuits over this ancestral property. I currently have a loan of over two lakh taka from the Agricultural Bank. I am seeking the administration’s intervention against the Abul Shama and Abu Bakkar gangs. When asked about this, accused Abul Shama said, “I am enjoying all the property. Why should I give the property to my nephews? A gentleman told me that the day they had a quarrel with me, their property was gone.” I and my brother have several joint accounts in their names. I am enjoying the land under those accounts. The day my brother died, my brother’s wife passed away, all my property was gone. In response to questions from reporters, he said, “Even if my brother has land registered in his name, I will not give him the land, his sons will not get any land.” My uncle Abu Taleb said that my brother has been dead for 20 years now. Just like we, the owners of our ancestral property, my brother’s heirs and the owners of the property, my brothers Abul Shama and Abu Bakkar Gangra have been illegally occupying about 16 kani of land for 20 long years. I have tried many times with my family and local dignitaries but have failed. If I have any property left over from the orphaned heir, I will return it. During the on-site inspection, it was learned from talking to the locals that the victims were actually the heirs of the land, and that the accused had forged the inheritance certificates and forcibly taken possession of the land in the name of religion. In this regard, locals called for the return of the land to the victims, subject to a fair investigation. In this regard, Naiksyangchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Masrurul Haque said, “I have received the complaint. Legal action will be taken against those involved after inspecting the scene.
