Durgapur (Rajshahi) Correspondent
Rajshahi 5 (Puthia-Durgapur) constituency has always been a hotbed of heavyweight candidates from all political parties. However, new faces are seen in most elections. This time, prominent industrialist and social worker Alhaj Abdus Sattar, inspired by the ideals of Shaheed Zia, is at the top of popularity.
He is gaining additional popularity by going door to door to distribute blankets to helpless people to ward off the cold and distributing leaflets containing the 31-point plan for state repair announced by the BNP. It is known that the exceptionally talented Alhaj Mohammad Abdus Sattar obtained a B.Com. (Accounting) degree from Rajshahi College in 1990. He completed his M. Com. (Accounting) from Jagannath University in 1992. He completed his CA course from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) in 1995. He finally completed his PGDFM degree in Financial Management from Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM) in 1996. Entering the business world, he established the country’s top local business organization “Imtex Packaging” through his own talent and hard work. Now he is managing several companies under the Imtex Group. He has achieved enviable success in the machinery business. With good reputation, he continues to conduct business with the country’s top local food processing companies. Alhaj Abdus Sattar was inspired by the ideals of Shaheed Zia and joined BNP politics since his student days. He said that Shaheed Zia’s canal digging program, road and infrastructure construction program, agricultural development program, manpower export program, etc. have made me his devotee. I was especially impressed by Shaheed Zia’s 19-point program. The 31-point plan for repairing the state structure of Tarique Rahman, currently the acting chairman of BNP, has attracted me to participate in realizing Tarique Rahman’s dream of building a happy, prosperous and just state. He further said, “I have been holding the hand of martyred chairman Nur Mohammad Nuru Bhai in politics. I have been working for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). I have directly supported the leaders and activists in the anti-fascist Awami government movement.”
I have always given courage to keep my morale high. If my beloved organization, BNP, nominates me and I am elected by the people’s direct vote, I will provide employment opportunities for the unemployed youth of the area, God willing. I have already provided employment to many unemployed youths from my personal resources. In addition, it is my lifelong dream to transform unemployed youth into skilled manpower through technical training, real-world knowledge and experience sharing through websites and create entrepreneurs. God willing, we will connect the vast population of our country to production by establishing industries. When asked about this, Durgapur Upazila BNP convener Md. Kamruzzaman Aynal said, Alhaj Md. Abdus Sattar is a dedicated worker of BNP. He was directly and indirectly by the side of BNP in difficult times. I believe that if such a person is by the side of the people of Puthia Durgapur, the hopes of the people of the area will be fulfilled and they will understand their just rights. BNP’s senior leader and founding president Md. Ashraful Kabir Bulu said, Alhaj Md. Abdus Sattar was always associated with BNP politics and till today he remains steadfast to the ideals of Shaheed Zia. He always keeps himself engaged in social service work. Such as repairing roads and ghats, developing mosques, temples and educational institutions, standing by the poor and suffering, providing medical assistance, assisting in the marriage of daughters, helping to build houses for the homeless, installing tube wells to solve the drinking water crisis, etc.
He is an honest, capable and compassionate person.
