2 AL & SL arrested in Gazaria.

Police have arrested two leaders of Awami League and Swechchhasebak League in Gazaria, Munshiganj. They were sent to the Munshiganj learned court on Thursday (December 12) afternoon. Earlier, they were arrested in a separate operation last Wednesday night. The matter was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge of Gazaria Police Station OC Mahbubur Rahman. The arrested are Mahtab Uddin (51) of Rasulpur village of Imampur Union of the upazila. He was the former president of Ward No. 2 Awami League of Imampur Union. On the other hand, Nazmul Molla (52), son of the late Matbar Ali Molla of Tengarchar village of Tengarchar Union of the same upazila. He was the publicity secretary of the Upazila Swechchhasebak League. Police sources said that the police conducted a raid last Wednesday night and arrested Nazmul Molla from the Sanarpar area of Siddhirganj police station in Narayanganj. Mahtab Uddin was arrested from Rasulpur village on the same night. It is known that they are accused in the murder case filed at Sadar police station, who was killed in the anti-discrimination student movement. Meanwhile, Mahtab Uddin’s wife Shamsunnahar Popi said that her husband is a victim of political revenge. Matab Uddin is the general secretary of the Upazila Shilpakala Academy, a cultural teacher at Gazaria Girls’ School, a music teacher at the Kishore Kishore Club, and the only music teacher on TV and radio in Gazaria upazila. He teaches free music from the Shilpakala Academy every Friday, and conducts all the cultural programs he has ever conducted, regardless of party transfers. He has never spoken on any political platform for a day. Matab Uddin is a victim of political revenge. The police arrested him without any crime.
Gazaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge OC Mahbubur Rahman said the arrested accused have been sent to court this afternoon. He said the operation to arrest other absconding accused in the case is continuing.
