Weapons displayed not recovered yet in Rupganj

The weapon displayed in the meeting procession during the previous government’s Rupganj in Narayanganj has not been recovered yet. As a result, the people of Rupganj are in extreme insecurity, businessmen and common people think. In Kayetpara, Bhulta, Murapara, Kanchan, Tarabo, Bholabo, Daudpur, Golakandail, Chanpara areas of the upazila, during the Awami League government’s tenure, meetings, marches or showdowns were practiced with firearms. That fear still prevails among the common people. After Sheikh Hachina left the country on August 5, the leaders and activists fled, but no weapons were found. If the administration is not proactive in recovering those illegal weapons, they may change hands and end up in the hands of miscreants. Rupganj may be turbulent again. Because of this, common and civil society people are in fear.
Rupganj Thana Police is afraid of village Naora. There were always weapons drills going on. In the last 15 years, there have been 12 murders in Kayetpara Union.
Rupganj Thana Chhatra League General Secretary Masum Bhuiyan openly raised his weapon and fired one after another to take over the Bismillah Sabzi Bar in Rupganj’s Sawghat area. Which went viral on social media Facebook. The administration has not yet recovered these weapons.
Abdul Awal, the manager of Asia’s largest single-owned Gauchia cloth market, said that in the past, government party meetings were held in Bhulta area of the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. In those meetings and processions, the party leaders raised arms and demonstrated. As those weapons are still not recovered, there is panic among the traders.
Asian Duplex Town Project Manager Kajol Mia said that on Monday (September 9) at around 11:00 am, three terrorists on their way to Ponab area from Rupganj’s Bhulta withdrew money from the NRB Bank. They also threatened to kill the terrorists if they revealed their names.
Salim Pradhan, the founder of Rupganj One Family, said that in the last 15 years, there have been dozens of murders and injuries due to the expansion of dominance. Although this information was presented in the coordination meeting of upazila administration and law enforcement forces, there was no action to recover the weapons. If these weapons are not recovered, Rupganj may become turbulent again.
Rupganj Police Station OC (Investigation) Zubair said that the police are always active in recovering illegal weapons. Terrorists’ using weapons are now in hiding.
