The loss of a businessman is 10 crore taka due to internet shutdown. Case against 115 people including Former Sheikh Hasina.
A case has been filed against 115 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Chittagong. On Monday (September 9), the case was filed in the Chittagong Cyber Tribunal by a businessman named Noor Mohammad. Cyber Tribunal Judge Zahirul Kabir Chowdhury has ordered the Counter Terrorism Unit of Chittagong Metropolitan Police to investigate and submit a report after taking cognizance of the case.
Naushad Ali, the lawyer of the plaintiff in the case, confirmed this information. He said that the case was made by mentioning the names of 15 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 100 unknown accused.
The accused in the case are Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Roads and Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Interior Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmad Palak, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat, former DMP DB chief Haroon Or Rashid, DMP Joint Police Commissioner Biplab Kumar, Prime Minister’s Advisor Salman F Rahman, Social Welfare Minister Dipu Moni, Former Major General Ziaul Ahsan, Chittagong Port Chairman Real Admiral Sohail, Chittagong Port Employees’ Parishad Finance Secretary Rezaul Karim Raju, Chittagong Port Employees’ Parishad General Secretary Naibul Islam Fatik and Feroz Ahmed Jabed, Social Welfare Secretary, Port Employees’ Council.
The plaintiff in the case, Noor Mohammad (22), is a businessman. He is the owner of online and software based businesses Durant Supplier and Durant Bazar. The plaintiff’s business suffered a loss of Tk 10 crore due to internet shutdown from July 18 to August 5 across the country. The case was filed seeking punishment for those involved in the internet shutdown and compensation from the personal and party property of the defendants.
The plaintiff’s online-based business has approximately 200 employees associated with the business, according to the lawsuit. For online product supply, Durant Supplier has its own multi-carriage and chartered transport services. The plaintiff’s daily business transactions online are around Tk 20 lakhs. From July 18 to August 5, internet and broadband services were stopped in a planned manner in the country. As a result, the trade sector of the country suffered a loss of Tk 1 lakh crore and the plaintiff suffered a loss of Tk 10 crore. The plaintiff also mentioned in the statement that the amount of loss should be met from the personal and party property of the defendants.
