After 16 long years, Chittagong with the current situation of the country. A press conference has been organized at Mahanagar Jamaat Chandanpura (BIA) office today at 2.30 pm.

At that time Amir Shahjahan Chowdhury of Jamaat Islam Chittagong said that the people of the country have been subjected to extreme oppression, terrorism, anarchy and deprivation of dictatorship for 16 years. This victory has been achieved in the face of the united movement of students – Alhamdulillah.

He also said that countless number of students had to lose their lives to achieve this victory. At the same time, people from all walks of life, including women, children and workers, have to give their lives. This victory achieved at the cost of countless human lives is unprecedented in the history of the world. Thanks to Almighty Allah for this and congratulations and greetings to the countrymen. Besides, 4 journalists, many innocent policemen were also killed. We wish the souls of all the martyrs who died in this movement to rest in peace. At the same time, I express my condolences to the thousands of eye-losers, sufferers and injured and wish them a speedy recovery.

On behalf of the Chittagong Metropolitan Jamaat, I would like to humbly request the people of all walks of life to hold on to the victory achieved in exchange of the blood of numerous martyrs. In this situation, we have to play a united role to bring back a fair environment in the country, maintain law and order, and ensure the safety of lives and property of other religions.

We on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami are already trying to cooperate with the administration in all these matters. Area-based role is being played at police station and ward level to ensure safety of people’s life and property and to protect law and order. We are noticing that a vested interest in the city is attacking public and private institutions and individuals. It is not supportable in any way. I appeal to identify those who are doing this heinous act and bring them under the law.

He also said, I appeal to the administration and city dwellers to ensure the safety of the people of all religions as well as all the upasanalas including temples. In the current situation, I am calling all Jamaat leaders, workers, teachers, parents, all political parties and people from all walks of life. I request you to keep a watchful eye so that miscreants do not under any circumstances spoil this victory of the students by creating an unexpected situation. I strongly demand the local administration to normalize the law and order situation.
