JnU Vice Chancellor Dr. Imdadul Haque is no more

Jagannath University (JnU) Vice-Chancellor Dr. Imdadul Haque passed away. He breathed his last on Saturday (November 11) at approximately 5 am while undergoing treatment at the BRB Hospital in Panthapath of the capital. The matter was confirmed by the proctor of the university,Dr.Mustafa Kamal.
Before this, Professor Dr.Imdadul Haque was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of last September. Professor Imdadul Haque went to Singapore on September 12 to receive advanced treatment. There he underwent radio therapy. Later, as his physical condition improved, he returned to the country on October 12.
Professor Imdadul Haque was born in Pabna district. He obtained MSc in 1978 and PhD in 1988 from the Department of Botany, University of Dhaka. He has completed several post-doctoral studies in universities in Germany and the United States.
He has served in various important positions including Dean of Biology Faculty of DU, Vice President and Member of Dhaka University Teachers Association, Treasurer and General Secretary of Bangladesh Botany Association, General Secretary of Bangladesh Association for Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology.
He is a member of several professional organizations. Besides, he has also played a role as a member of the board of directors in various educational institutions. More than 80 of his research articles have been published in various journals at home and abroad. He is also the co-editor of several books.
It is known that the body of Dr. Imdadul Haque is being brought to Jagannath University campus for funeral. And his initial funeral is done at Jobi campus at 12:30pm. Later, his body was be taken to Dhaka University campus for funeral.
