The work on the railway line is 100% complete. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar railway line in person on November 12. Before this, a trial run will be given on October 15. As the construction of 101 km railway from Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar was completed on Monday afternoon, the entire railway is now visible. Officials of the Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar railway construction project confirmed this information with enthusiasm.

The railway line of Cox’s Bazar is connecting with the whole of Bangladesh. Chittagong’s Kalurghat Bridge renovation work is going on. The engine compartment was taken across this bridge. The renovation work will be completed before the inauguration.

The government took up the single line dual gauge track construction project from Dohazari to Ramu to Cox’s Bazar and from Ramu to Ghumdhum near Myanmar in 2010. In the first phase, 100.831 km single line dual gauge railway line is being constructed from Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar via Ramu. So far 90 percent of the project has been completed.

9 railway stations, four major and 47 minor bridges have been constructed under the project. 149 box culverts and 52 round culverts have been constructed. There are 96 level crossings.

Two Chinese contracting firms China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) are carrying out the construction of the project. Apart from this, Tama Construction Company and Max Infrastructure Limited of Bangladesh are associated with the work of this project.

Additional project director Abul Kalam Chowdhury said that only 100 meters of work was left on the Satkania section of the Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar 101 km railway line. That too was over by Monday afternoon.

Stating that the overall progress of the project is 90 percent so far, he said that the iconic railway station under construction in Cox’s Bazar will be completed this month.
