General Secretary of Awami League Obaidul Quader said that elections will be held in 20-22 countries of the world this year. Big countries have nothing to say about this. But why so much headache about Bangladesh?

He said these things in a press conference in the meeting room of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges at the Secretariat on Sunday.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, ‘Today, elections are being held in Ecuador and Argentina. Elections are being held in 20-22 countries this year. There is no word anywhere. Only Bangladesh is the headache of the big countries of the world. What is the reason?’

In response to a question, Awami League General Secretary said, “Bangladesh election is an internal matter of Bangladesh.” Now different countries have geopolitical strategies around this region. America has an interest there, so does India. It is very normal to have. On the other hand, there is China, a big power.

Stating that none of the foreigners had spoken about the resignation of the prime minister and the caretaker government, the main demand of BNP, he said, India has expressed its opinion to America on matters of interest. We were never told, ‘You do this, do that, supervise’. Then the election process or the Prime Minister’s resignation – America did not say these things either. BNP demands – Caretaker government, resignation of Prime Minister, dissolution of Parliament and abolition of Election Commission. None of America, European Union said these.

Obaidul Quader said, ‘America has no headache with the demands that BNP is sticking to. The European Union and India have also not said anything about it. I asked the American ambassador personally. He said, they have no say in these matters. Even the European Union has not said that a guardian is needed. They don’t have it in their country, nowhere in the world.’

Why in Bangladesh, why in Bangladesh? Can’t in real place. We will see how in Niger. The head of the Niger junta has said that there is no use in these talks for the next three years. See you in three years. Now we will also see, those who do so much and talk so much about our country – what they do in Niger!’

In response to another question from the journalists, Obaidul Quader said, we think that no challenge is insurmountable in the life of a politician in the state and personal life. All challenges are surmountable. Inshallah, we will overcome. Our promise to the people – We will conduct free, fair and peaceful elections. Elections are our internal affairs. We have a constitution. As elections are held in other democratic countries of the world, it will be the same in Bangladesh.

Also present at the press conference were – Secretary of Bridges Department Manjur Hossain, Secretary of Roads Department ABM Amin Ullah Noori, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited MAN Siddique, Chief Engineer of Roads and Public Roads (SOAZ) Directorate Syed Mainul Hasan, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). Chairman Noor Mohammad Majumder and others.
