District Commissioner’s office fire in Bogra, investigation committee

A fire broke out in the record room of the Bogra District Commissioner’s office and several documents including the judgment of the case were burnt. The incident took place on the ground floor of the Deputy Commissioner’s office around three o’clock on Tuesday. On receiving the information, the fire service personnel came and brought the fire under control. Two separate investigation committees have been formed by the Deputy Commissioner to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of damage.

Bogra Assistant Director of Fire Service. Manzil Haque said, two units of fire service were able to bring the fire under control after about half an hour of effort. Initially, the fire is believed to have started from an electrical short circuit.

District Commissioner Md. Saiful Islam told the media that the fire started from an electrical short circuit. When the fire service was informed, the workers came and brought the fire under control. It is being investigated whether it is a sabotage or not. Some judgment records of cases tried in Additional District Magistrate’s Court between 2001 and 2009 were completely or partially burnt. Apart from this, other important documents are stored in e-documents. He said that two separate committees have been formed to investigate the fire incident. The inquiry committee has been asked to report within the next three working days.

Sources in the District Commissioner’s office have informed that, in addition to CS and MR of land, all documents including land acquisition objections, certificate case settlement documents, mobile court documents, documents of various branches under the district administration, besides documents of judgments of cases tried in additional district magistrate courts are stored in the document room. . When smoke billowed from the document room on the ground floor this afternoon, the concerned persons first tried to put out the fire themselves. The fire service brought the fire under control.

Bogra court lawyer Abdul Latif Pashari said that in the record room, apart from the documents of land CS, MR cases, various government documents are stored. Burning of important documents can lead to crisis. Whether it is sabotage or not, there needs to be an investigation.

The Deputy Commissioner has ordered a five-member investigation committee headed by Bogra Additional District Magistrate Afsana Yasmin to investigate the cause of the fire. Other members of the committee are officials from Northern Electricity Supply Company (NESCO), Fire Service, Public Works Department. Apart from this, another seven-member investigation committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Nilufa Yachmin has been constituted. The committee has been asked to investigate what documents were burnt in the fire.
