Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said that the government does not have any information about whether there will be any new US sanctions on Bangladesh. But the minister hopes that the good sense of the United States will emerge and they will not impose any more sanctions. He also commented that the United States does not impose sanctions. The foreign minister said these things in a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday regarding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Qatar. In response to a question, he said, “I have no idea whether there will be a ban or not.” They tell us that they (the United States) never do anything, it will be sad to see new restrictions, he said, adding that they are giving thousands of restrictions in the country. We hope they will come to their senses and not do this.

He protested that a newspaper report called him (Abdul Momen) a Chinese lobbyist and said, “The newspaper has given false information.” The false information is that the foreign minister, I mean I worked with a Chinese lobby before becoming a minister. This is completely false. I thought it should be said about this lie that I have never worked for a Chinese company, nor been a lobbyist for anyone; Rather, I have lived and worked in America all my life. I don’t know why they did it. It is very strange, they have knowingly given this false and fabricated information.’ The Foreign Minister pointed out the weakness of the report in relation to the US ban and said, ‘Wrong information has been given, we are not aware of it. It’s so weird and amazing and they don’t even give a reference.’

To a question about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent statement on the ban, the foreign minister said, politicians say many things, so that there is a warning for others. What that will be literally, I cannot say. He also said, we will not get angry if someone looks at us with painted eyes. We will meet the challenge. have the ability to cope. That is the message given.

Meanwhile, the foreign minister commented that it is very sad to issue a travel warning for US citizens in Bangladesh ahead of the national elections. In response to a question in this regard, he said that elections will be held after seven-eight months. Right now, the US Embassy has asked its citizens to exercise caution. Ask them why they did it.

Abdul Momen said, “There is no killing in our country. No one shoots and kills anyone in the streets. Why are they so angry against American citizens? US citizens are not doing anything wrong here. It is very strange. I don’t know, ask them – why did they do it?’ Claiming that the law and order situation in the country is very good, the minister said, there is no reason that there will be violence in our country, for which an advance warning should be given. According to the foreign minister, warnings should be given to be careful in malls or bars or schools when visiting America.
