Farmer killed for not getting cooking rice

Neighbor Kalim Uddin and his family have been accused of murdering a farmer in Kuliarchar of Kishoreganj while asking for cooking rice at a neighboring house, but did not get rice.

The incident took place at Abdullahpur Dakshinpara of Gobria Abdullahpur Union of Upazila at approximately 8 am on Saturday (May 20).

The accused are – Kalim Uddin (70) of the same village, his daughter Shikha (30), wife Sharifa (50), son Kakan (29) and son’s wife Mina (25).

According to family sources, neighbor Shikha Akhtar came to the house of deceased Ratan Mia at around 8 am to ask for chawl. Ratan Mia and his wife Shanta agreed to give rice to Akhtar. Because even before this there was a quarrel between them about these gifts and due to these reasons the Sikhs were also forbidden to come to their house.
On the day of the incident, when Shikha asked for rice again, Shikha had an argument with Ratan and his wife. Later, during a fight between the two families in Latkan Bagan near Ratan’s house, Shikha’s father Kalim Uddin hit Ratan in the stomach with a knife. Ratan immediately fell on the ground. Immediately the family took Ratan to Bhagalpur Jahurul Islam Medical College and Hospital in the neighboring Bajitpur Upazila where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Later, the body was sent to Kishoreganj District Sadar Hospital for autopsy through Bajitpur police station. Ratan’s wife and class 10 student Neela were also injured in the incident.

In this regard, the local member of UP said. Badal Bhuiyan said he came to know about the incident when Ratan was picked up in the car in front of his house to take him to the hospital and immediately informed the police.

In this regard, Kuliarchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Golam Mostafa said, as soon as we got the information, we went to the spot along with the police force and brought the situation under control. He said, I got the news that one person was killed in the fight. A police case is under process in this regard.
