Houses burnt down in Boalkhali
An old lady has died in a house fire in Amuchia Union. Besides, three cows in the cowshed were burnt. Three houses were burnt. On March 1, Wednesday at around 1:30 am, the fire occurred at the house of Swapan Mahajan of Ward No. 2 of Amuchia Union No. 9. The deceased Pratibha Mahajan (60) wife of Swapan Mahajan. UP Chairman Kajol Dey said that fire broke out in Swapan Mahajan’s cowshed around 1:30 am. Swapan Mahajan and his wife saw the fire in the cowshed and brought out the 3 cows in the cowshed. After that, Pratibha Mahajan went to the house to take out the household items. He could no longer come out of the house. He burned to death at home. The cows were burnt in different parts of the body in the fire. Swapan’s cowshed, kitchen, residence and Swapan’s brother Chandan’s residence were gutted in the fire. On receiving the news, 2 cars of Boalkhali Fire Service Station brought the fire under control. Station Officer Md. Saidur Rahman said that the fire started from electric shot and three houses of two owners got burnt. The extent of the damage could not be immediately determined. An old woman was burnt to death in this fire. Upazila Executive Officer Md. Mamun handed over cash and blankets to the affected families after inspecting the incident site. Local leaders including Chairman Kajalde were present at the time.
