Dr. Mazharul Islam Toru was promoted to the post of principal
Abdullah Al Mamun: Dr. Mazharul Islam Toru, the meritorious son of Chapainawabganj district, has been promoted to the post of principal. He was working as the vice-principal of Adina Fazlul Haque Government College in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj, and was also performing the duties of acting principal. Last Thursday (February 16), the Ministry of Education announced the promotion of Dr. Toru to the post of principal of the college. Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Folklore Society Dr. Toru served as the Head of Department of Bengali Department of Chapainawabganj Government College for a long time. Chapainawabganj’s art and literature brilliant personality Dr. Mazharul Islam Toru has already published more than half a hundred research books. Dr. Mazharul Islam Toru was born on February 18, 1968 in Chapainawabganj city. His father’s name is Professor Sirajul Islam, mother Tahera Islam. He graduated with honors in Bengali language and literature from Rajshahi University in 1993 and post graduate in 1994, M.Phil in 1999 and Ph.D. in 2002. He started his career as a college teacher in 1995. For his contribution to teaching, he was selected as the best teacher at the national level during the National Education Week in 2004 and was awarded a gold medal by His Excellency the President of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. He received numerous awards including Public Library Literary Award (1989), Bangladesh-India Friendship Literary Award (2000) for his contribution to literature. He is the lyricist of the national broadcasting media Bangladesh Betar. His reputation has already spread far and wide for the research he has done on various subjects including folk culture by visiting the remote areas of the country for two centuries. His various books are currently being used as reference books in various universities.
