Books expand knowledge and awaken humanity: President
President Md. Abdul Hamid said that the practice of reading books should be increased to build a knowledge-based society. Books are man’s true friend, which widens the horizon of knowledge and awakens humanity. Apart from feeding the mind, books also help people to enlighten themselves with the light of knowledge by increasing their experience.
He said these things in a message given on the occasion of National Library Day on Saturday (February 4).
Expressing satisfaction to know that National Library Day-2023 is being celebrated tomorrow on February 5 at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, the President said, I welcome this initiative. Libraries act as bridges of civilization through time.
Md. Abdul Hamid said, due to the advancement of information technology, the habit of saving and reading books is gradually decreasing. In that context, the observance of National Library Day can play an effective role in encouraging people to read books.
He said, the library is an endless repository of information. The government has taken various initiatives to build libraries with modern infrastructure and technical facilities for the general public. As a result, the role of the library will become more attractive and useful to readers, researchers and information collectors.
He hopes that books and libraries will become a path for everyone. The President wished for the overall success of National Library Day-2023.
