Phulchhari police arrested the drug addict son Al Amin (22) after his mother’s complaint in Phulchhari upazila of Gaibandha. He was arrested while consuming ganja from West Udakhali village on Thursday (February 2) afternoon.

Later Phulchari Upzilla Executive Officer Anisur Rahman fined Tk 500 along with 6 months jail through mobile court. Earlier, on January 30, mother Aletan Begum made a written complaint to Phulchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer to keep her son Al Amin in jail. She is the wife of Abdul Mannan Mia of Paschiudakhali village in Udakhali union of the upazila.

In the complaint, mother Aletan Begum said that she is working in a brick kiln in Dhaka and making her son Al Amin study up to SSC. Good and beautiful girls were also given in marriage. But suddenly, Al Amin can’t live without drugs after hanging out with the drunken boys of the area. Al Amin’s family is broken because he tortures his wife by consuming marijuana. He had to send his wife away due to debt.

Mother Aletan Begum burst into tears after hearing these words. He also said, once my al-Amin used to pray five times. My 70 year old husband still gives kamala (Krishan) to fund his addiction. Alamin beat us if we don’t pay for the drug. We are fed up with his tyranny. So I want to jail him to make him better. We have no other choice.

Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Phulchari police station Kawshar Ali said that drug addict Al Amin was consuming ganja at home. According to locals, Phulchari police arrested him while consuming ganja. To keep him in jail, his mother also filed a written complaint with the Phulchari Upazila Nirbahi Officer two days ago. The process of sending him to jail is underway.
