The main accused in the Shammi murder case of Palashbari police station of Gaibandhar by raiding Adabar area of the capital. RAB-4 arrested Jahangir Alam.

RAB-4 said that he was arrested on Wednesday morning.

According to RAB, on Wednesday at around 10:30 am, the raid was carried out in Adabar area of the capital. Jahangir Alam was arrested.

RAB said quoting the arrested Jahangir Alam, Jahangir Alam was married to Shammi Begum who was killed about 10 years ago. They have two sons in their family life. Sometimes Jahangir and his family members used to physically and mentally torture Shammi Begum over family matters. Shammi Begum used to live very hard with him thinking about the future of her two children. Some time in the afternoon on September 21 last year, Jahangir Alam and other members of his family strangled Shammi to death according to a pre-planned plan. That evening, Jahangir’s nephew called Shammi Begum’s younger brother’s mobile phone from his used mobile phone and informed about the death. Thereafter, from Shammi’s house, his parents, brother and other family members went to the accused’s house. Then Shammi found Begum’s body in the yard of the accused’s house. The father of Shammi Begum, who was killed in this incident, filed a murder case against five people including Jahangir Alam at Palashbari police station in Gaibandhar.

According to RAB, Jahangir Alam has admitted to be directly involved in Shammi Begum’s murder.
