Establishing good governance in the country is not possible without change of government: Gayeshwar
BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said that BNP will work on changing the constitution if it comes to power. He said this at a function organized by the Agriculturalists Association of Bangladesh (AB) at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Friday.
BNP Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu proposed to completely cancel the constitution of Bangladesh formulated in 1972 and formulate a new constitution. Supporting his proposal Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said that those who made the constitution had no right to make the constitution. At present, the politics of intense revenge is going on in the country. Torture on the common people proved that this government is a fascist government.
He also said that in BNP’s proposal, no one can be President or Prime Minister for more than two times. If this proposal is expanded to the extent that no one can become a minister or MP more than twice, the politicians will be fine.
Gayeshwar said that it is not possible to establish good governance in the country without changing the government. BNP will have to work unitedly in the future.
Abdul Awal Mintu said, a group of people made this constitution. Only two members outside the Awami League were in the Constitution Drafting Committee. None of them signed that constitution. So it is a constitution of heroes. Don’t tear this constitution up again and again and throw it away. Create a new constitution. Where human rights will be guaranteed.
The vice chairman of BNP also said, I will ask the standing committee of our party to announce that you will draft a new constitution if you come to power. It is not possible to establish the rule of law through the present constitution. So a new constitution should be framed with everyone’s opinion.
AAB convener Rashidul Hasan Harun also spoke on the occasion, vice chairman of the party Dr. AZM Zahid Hesen, BNP media cell convener Zahir Uddin Swapan and others.
