Russian President Vladimir Putin removed General Sergei Vladimirovich Surovykin, the chief military officer of Russia engaged in the Ukraine war, just three months after taking office. News: BBC.

Now Russia’s Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov will now lead the ‘special military operation’. The Russian government refers to the invasion of Ukraine as a special military operation.

The newly released General Surovykin recently led aggressive attacks on several installations in Ukraine, including power plants. General Sergey Surovykin has a reputation as a militant and brutal army officer.

General Surovykin was removed at a time when Russia was claiming a good position in eastern Ukraine.
