Transport strike is going on in three districts of Sylhet
Transport strike is going on in three districts of Sylhet. Passengers are in extreme trouble due to this. A transport strike has been called in three districts of Sylhet to stop harassment by the administration including three-wheelers on the highway. However, many believe that this strike has been called ahead of the BNP rally. The two-day strike that started on Friday (November 18) has left passengers in trouble.
Many are going back without getting a bus. Some travel by alternative vehicles for extra fare. Meanwhile, the BNP alleged that the Bus Owners’ Association took such a decision to disrupt Saturday’s departmental mass meeting.
Regarding the strike in the entire department, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said, it remains to be understood who has called the strike for what. But they don’t know that public anger cannot be stopped by regular strike.
Sunamganj district BNP president Kalim Uddin said, the government cannot stop us from going to the rally with a strike. 50 thousand leaders and activists will go to Sylhet from Sunamganj to make the rally successful. Meanwhile, the leaders and activists of different upazilas of the district have left for Sylhet with trawlers and steel body boats.
Although the bus owners association claims, the strike has been called to collect several demands, including stopping illegal vehicles on the highway.
In this context, the general secretary of the District Workers’ Union. Zakaria said that the strike has been called for four-point demands, including stone quarry operation, stoppage of new registration of CNG autorickshaws. It is a continuous movement.
