SI in support of ‘land grabbing’ by sending the farmer to jail in a false case!
Staff Reporter, Gaibandha/
A farmer named Anwar Hossain is unable to take possession of the land in Kuptala Union of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila despite having a deed. It has been alleged that the influential have grabbed the land by sending him to jail by filing a false case with the help of a Superintendent of Police (SI).
It is known that Anwar Hossain purchased 13 percent of the land from a relative with great difficulty. He also planted paddy on that land. But the influential Nurunnabi Mia of the same area claimed that land as their own land. Later, Anwar Hossain complained about this in Kuptala Union Parishad. After investigating the complaint, the UP Chairman gave a verdict in favor of Anwar Hossain.
The victim Anwar Hossain complained that after getting the verdict of the chairman, Gaibandha Sadar police station SI Maidul Islam called him and asked him to bring the necessary documents of the land to the police station. After seeing the documents, this police officer demanded Tk 10,000. If they refuse to pay money, they will file a case in court and talk about recovering the land. Later they filed a false case against me Nurunnabi Miara. When I went to jail in that case, Nurunnabi and his people took this opportunity to occupy the land. Despite having all the valid documents of the land, I cannot go to that land.
Shariful Islam Tara, Chairman of Kuptala Union Parishad, said that two parties were called and an arbitration was held in the Union Parishad. Arbitration awards in favor of the valid document holder. After that, if the two sides do not compromise, it is said to go to court. Meanwhile, in another case of fighting in the same area, SI Maidul of Gaibandha Sadar police station has been accused of implicating an innocent person named Harun in the case.
Victim Harun Mia’s wife Rashida Begum and her mother Halima Begum alleged that my son went to a shop where the fight took place after performing Friday prayers. But Haroon’s name has been unfairly named in the case. Harun Mia’s wife and mother demanded a fair investigation of the incident.
Sadar police station sub-inspector Maidul Islam said over the phone that there is no scope for police bias in the case of land seizure. All allegations are false and baseless. Moreover, there is no question of framing an innocent person. If no one is related to the incident, his name is omitted from the charge sheet.
When asked, Officer-in-Charge (OC Investigation) of Sadar Police Station, Wahidul Islam said, “If any complaint is made regarding land, we ask them to resolve it locally or send it to the court.” Since I came to know about it through you, I will inquire. If there is any crime by our police then action will be taken.
