Dr. Shafiqur’s son ‘Jangi’ Rafat remanded

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Sylhet Dr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman’s son Rafat Sadiq Saifullah and two others have been remanded by the police for three days. In the case filed by the Jatrabari police station of the capital, the learned judge gave this order when they were brought to court on Thursday.

The two accused were produced in court on Thursday (November 10). After that, for the sake of proper investigation of the case, the investigating officer of the case applied to take them into remand for ten days. Abul Basar On the other hand, the accused’s lawyers applied for cancellation of remand and bail. The state opposed bail. After the hearing of both parties, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jaseem denied them bail and remanded each of them for three days.

Earlier on Wednesday (November 9) they were arrested by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC).

According to the source of the case, Rafat Sadiq is the top level leader of the militant organization Ansar Al Islam in Sylhet region. He has been carrying out Jihadi dawa activities there for a long time. Rafat’s name came out during the interrogation of three militants arrested from Jatrabari in the capital. After that, an operation was launched to arrest him.
