No irregularities detected in upazila elections: CEC
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that the Election Commission (EC) did not find any irregularities in today’s local government elections. So far everyone is voting following the rules.
He said this while monitoring the CCTV monitoring cell on the occasion of municipal polls at Agargaon election building in the capital on Wednesday.
CEC said, we have been monitoring through the CC camera since morning and we have not noticed any irregularities. Waiting for the voters outside and inside the polling station in an orderly manner. Inside the center we can see that everyone is voting following the rules in the polling booth.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that the elections are being held in 4 municipalities today, we are monitoring them through CC cameras. Elections are going on in 7 upazilas, we have not installed CC cameras. They are communicating through video calls. I am also looking at pictures through mobile phones. So far I am getting news that the election is progressing quite peacefully.
In response to the questions of the journalists, Habibul Awal said that the report of the investigation committee regarding the irregularities in the Gaibandha-5 by-election will be informed to the media “in due course”. It is true that we have received the investigation report. No decision was reached on the report and we could not sit down. You will be informed about the investigation report in due course.
