An old man named Chitra Rajan Das (70) died after drowning in the water of a pond in Phulchari Upazila of Gaibandha.

The incident took place in South Udakhali village of Phulchari upazila on Saturday (October 29) afternoon. Chitra Rajan Das is the son of Devendra Das of that village.

Relatives said that at that time Chitra Rajan Das went down to a pond near the house to take a bath. After descending into the pond, the relatives searched the pond unsuccessfully when he was suddenly no longer found. The fire service was later informed.

Confirming the recovery of the body, Phulchari police station fire service team leader Habibur Rahman said that after receiving the news, the body of Chitra Rajan Das was recovered from under the water of the pond.
