Prime Minister orders to stand by the victims of ‘Sitrang’
Party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered the leaders of Awami League and affiliated organizations to stand by the people in addition to the government to deal with any situation due to the impact of Cyclone Sitrang.
Awami League informed the media about this directive in a press release.
In a statement, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that on the instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, all administrative preparations have been made from the Prime Minister’s Office to deal with the situation arising due to Cyclone Sitrang. Round the clock monitoring cell has been kept open.
He said that under the direct instructions of the Prime Minister, round-the-clock communication is being maintained with the 19 coastal districts. In the meantime, the people of the coastal areas are being evacuated to safe places to deal with the disaster and the administration and volunteers have been kept ready to deal with all possible situations.
In the statement, Quader said, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has given instructions to the leaders and workers of the party and allied organizations to provide all-round assistance to the administration in order to quickly deliver the people of the coast to the shelters in order to deal with the disaster. At the same time, he urged to continue all efforts on an urgent basis to ensure safe shelter, food aid and medical services for the people of the coast in the disasterous weather.
Awami League General Secretary said that several teams have been prepared under the leadership of Awami League’s relief and social welfare sub-committee to help the affected people after the disaster. Under the leadership of this team, the necessary assistance will be delivered to the affected people through party leaders and activists.
