Gazette passed in name of UP member who lost in Gabtali due to mistake of returning officer
Muhammad Abu Musa, Bogra/
The gazette has been passed in the name of a defeated UP member candidate named Lutfar Rahman in Gabtali, Bogra. This incident happened due to the inefficiency of Upazila Social Service and Returning Officer Abdul Hannan government.
It is known that the election of Naduamala Union Parishad of Gabtali Upazila was held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. As a result of this vote, Sajedul Rahman, son of Mahbubur Rahman Pramanik of Baoitona village of Ward No. 3 of Naduamala UP, was elected UP member by getting a total of 604 votes in two centers with Saju Tubewell brand symbol.
The two centers are Bahadurpur Government Primary School polling station with 13 votes and Biotona Government Primary School polling station with 591 votes – a total of 604 votes. His nearest rival, Lutfar Rahman (Tala Marka), son of Tamiz Uddin Akand of Bahadurpur village of Ward No. 3, got 319 votes in those 2 polling stations. But due to upazila returning officer and upazila social service officer Abdul Hannan government’s capriciousness, inefficiency and sending wrong information, the defeated UP member candidate Lutfar Rahman passed the gazette. However, although the gazette was passed in the name of Lutfar Rahman, Sajedul Rahman Saju took oath as UP member of Ward No. 3. However, since the beginning, Sajedul Rahman Saju has been completing all the work of Ward No. 3 as a member of UP. The concerned authorities kept the matter under wraps for 9 months. But when UP member Sajedul Rahman Saju came to vote in Gabtali Upazila Parishad polling station in Ward No. 10 in the Zilla Parishad elections on October 17, he was blocked by MA Ranju Mia, the agent of candidate Abdullahel Baki. Originally it became known that instead of the winning candidate Sajedul Rahman Saju, the gazette was passed in the name of the defeated UP member candidate Lutfar Rahman. After receiving the news, Lutfar Rahman came to the UNO office and signed as a UP member of Ward No. 3 and withdrew the salary of 10 thousand 790 taka for three months.
In this regard, Upazila Returning Officer and Upazila Social Service Officer Abdul Hannan Sarkar of that polling station told the local journalists that this incident happened due to a mistake in computer composition. In this regard, Gabtali UNO Ronak Jahan and Upazila Election Officer Ruhul Amin said that this incident happened due to the returning officer’s mistake. However, the documents have been sent to the higher authorities to pass the gazette in the name of the winning candidate Sajedul Rahman Sajur after correcting the matter. This mistake will be corrected very soon. Lutfar’s withdrawn allowance has been deposited.
