Celebrating World Handwashing Day and Sanitation Month by Srimangale Cha Bagan Idea
World Handwashing Day was celebrated at Shrimangal in Moulvibazar with the motto “Sanitation for all, ensure a better life” in hand hygiene.
On Sunday (October 16) morning, Vidyabil tea garden of the upazila celebrated the World Handwashing Day, awareness raising program was held for the people of the tea garden about ensuring safe water, hygienic toilets and cleanliness.
In collaboration with Institute of Development Affairs-Idea organization and Water Aid, Srimangal upazila is implementing the project “Promoting Was for Hard to Rich Communities including Tea Garden Works in Bangladesh” in 3 tea gardens of 3 unions of the upazila (Lakhaichra, Rajghat and Hooghlychra). World Handwashing Day 2022 was celebrated as part of various activities of the project.
Vijay Bunarjee, chairman of Rajghat Union Parishad No. 7, was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Pankaj Ghosh Dastidar, project manager of IDEA, presented the keynote speech in the discussion presided over by Rajghat Government Primary School teacher Mau Chakraborty and moderated by IDEA Technical Officer (Monitoring and Evaluation) Mrinal Kanti Das.
The panel chairman of the union and 2nd ward member Salim Ahmed, IDEA’s advocacy officer Biswajit Deb Roy, Saheed Ahmed and others participated in the discussion.
The program started auspiciously with the washing of the hands of Shrimangal No. 7 Rajghat Union Parishad Chairman Vijay Bunerjee as the chief guest. Idea is working on safe water, sanitation and hygiene in collaboration with WaterAid and Seemavi in the Union.
In Rajghat Government Primary School of Rajghat Union in the presence of school students, teachers, parents, Bagan Panchayat, Bagan authorities and Union Parishad members, the day was celebrated in a very joyful atmosphere in this remote area of Bangladesh by all students and men.
