Yabar shipment seized in Jokiganj, 2 detained
The police seized a shipment of Yaba tablets worth about Tk 40 lakh in Jokiganj, Sylhet. Meanwhile, two youths were arrested along with a CNG-powered autorickshaw.
On Thursday (September 29) night, a raid was conducted in front of the fire service station in the municipal area and they were arrested along with Yabar A challan.
The arrested are Rehan Uddin (33) son of Sahab Uddin of Kapna village of Khalachra UP and CNG driver Babul Ahmad (29) son of Abdus Salam of Dakshin Bhuiarmora village of the same UP.
According to the police, on Thursday night, the officer-in-charge of the police station (OC) Md. Under the leadership of Mosharraf Hossain and Police Inspector (Investigation) Uzair Al Mahmud Adnan, a police team including SI Zahirul Islam, SI Mofidul Haque Sajal set up a check post in front of the fire service station in the municipal area to recover drugs. At around 7:30 am, a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw called Noorjahan Paribahan was searched at the check post and 10,000 pieces of Yaba tablets were found. The market value of which is about 40 lakh taka.

He said – ‘According to the information of the source, we set up checkpoints and seized CNG-powered auto-rickshaws. Yaba tablets worth about Tk 40 lakh have been seized. In this incident, two people were arrested along with a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw. A case has been filed against them under the Drug Control Act at Jokiganj police station.
Police said the drug dealers were going to Kaliganj with Yaba tablets.
