Taking to the streets with sticks cannot be a good example: Planning Minister
Planning Minister MA Mannan said that it is not possible to reduce inflation and commodity prices with a stick. Taking to the streets with a stick cannot be a good example.
He said these things to reporters before attending a discussion meeting organized at Rajshahi University (Rabi) on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 76th birthday on Wednesday morning.
Awami League presidium member and Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Golam Sabbir Sattar, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sultan-ul-Islam and others were special guests in the discussion meeting.
The Planning Minister said that earlier one village used to beat the people of another village with a stick, it was called Dakker Mair. Those are past now. But we are doing them now for political interests. I am saddened, saddened and ashamed.
He said that the country is in the right position in the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The benefits that the people of the country have received due to the stability of the last 15 years can be carried forward if we show discipline.
Later, the minister gave a speech as the chief guest at the discussion meeting titled “Sheikh Hasina and Development of Bangladesh”. Before this, he planted trees at Bangabandhu’s portrait of the university and at Shaheed Johar’s shrine after laying wreaths.
