Biden warned Putin against using chemical weapons
US President Joe Biden has warned Russia not to use chemical or strategic nuclear weapons in the Ukraine war. In an interview with CBS News, Biden said such a move would change the face of the war. However, he did not say how the US would react if Russia used such weapons. BBC news.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has placed his country’s nuclear forces on special alert following the invasion of Ukraine last February. He asked defense chiefs to issue this warning because of aggressive statements by the West.
Nuclear weapons have been a threat to the world for the past 80 years. The Federation of American Scientists estimates that Russia has about 5,977 nuclear weapons.
Note that strategic nuclear weapons refer to those that can be used at relatively short distances and raise the fear of all-out nuclear war.
Incidentally, Russia has recently intensified its attack on Ukraine due to the loss of one area after another. But Ukraine is recovering new areas every day. As of last Wednesday, Russia has lost 8,000 square kilometers of territory. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the restored eastern city of Izhyum. At that time he called the soldiers in the city ‘heroes’.
