Miscreants are constantly cutting down the trees planted by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) on both sides of the Adampur-Nainarpar road in Kamalganj of Moulvibazar in the dark of night. In the last few months, the gang has cut down 30/35 Akashmani and Mahogany trees on both sides of this road. Last Friday (September 16) morning, the locals saw the trunks and branches of another 7/8 medium and large sized trees.
It can be seen on the surface, the trees on both sides of this one and a half kilometer road have grown. Freshly cut tree branches are left in paddy field by the roadside. The market value of these stolen trees is estimated to be around two lakh rupees. Talking to the locals, it is known that many trees have been cut on that road in the last 3 months. Thieves are cutting this tree in the dark of night.
Jubo League leader Sadek Hossain, Qayyum Bakt, Zillur Rahman and some residents of Adampur Union said that a tree thieves syndicate (syndicate) has formed in the area. They are the ones who are slowly cutting down the trees in the darkness of the night. Many of the trees have saw-sharp weapon faces at the base.
Adampur UP Chairman Abdal Hossain admitted the fact that the trees on both sides of the road have been uprooted by thieves for a long time and said that it has become difficult to sustain the trees due to the nuisance of thieves. Despite repeatedly informing the LGED engineer, there is no remedy. He even talked about this in the past Kamalganj upazila law and order meeting. However.
Upazila Engineer Zahidul Islam said that the theft of trees on the side of the road is very sad. Trees have been stolen from this road before. He said, I have discussed this matter in the presence of the MP in the previous law and order meeting. At the same time I informed my superior officer. The police administration has been informed to take action against those who are involved in this work.
