No Myanmar citizen can enter Bangladesh: Foreign Minister
Due to the ongoing internal conflict in Myanmar, no citizen of the country will be able to enter Bangladesh, said Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen.
He said this to reporters after a video conference of tea workers with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Lakkatura Golf Club ground on the outskirts of the city on Saturday evening.
Dr. Momen said, “Different armed groups are involved in the conflict in Myanmar. It is scary that when the citizens of that country are persecuted, they move towards Bangladesh.
He said, but we have received information that this time they are not coming towards Bangladesh. We have put the BGB on alert to ensure that no Myanmar citizen can enter Bangladesh. The foreign minister said that Myanmar’s mortar cell did not fall on the border of Bangladesh.
Incidentally, mortar cells fired from two Myanmar warplanes and a fighting helicopter landed in the Bandarban border area. There were no casualties as two shells were unexploded. Another mortar cell landed on the Bangladesh border last Sunday.
