2 US warships entered the Taiwan Strait
Amid tensions with China, two US warships entered the Taiwan Strait.
This is the first US warship to enter the Taiwan Strait after China’s strong response to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s controversial visit to Taiwan. News from CNN.
US guided missile cruisers USS Antietam and USS Chancellorville entered the Taiwan Strait on Sunday.
According to a statement from the headquarters of the US Seventh Fleet in Japan, the US sent the warship to the Taiwan Strait in accordance with international laws on deep sea navigation.
The United States also said in the statement that these warships did not use any country’s coastal boundaries. The United States can send military forces and their warships anywhere in the world if international law allows it.
China considers Taiwan as its own territory and most countries in the world adhere to the one-China policy on the Taiwan issue.
China has repeatedly said that they want to connect Taiwan with the mainland, and if necessary, they will use force.
On the other hand, the United States adheres to the One China policy but considers Taiwan an independent territory and incites separatism among the Taiwanese people. The US government also sends large quantities of weapons and military equipment to Taiwan.
