There is no question of excluding religious education from the new curriculum: Education Minister
Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni says religious education has not been narrowed down by the new curriculum. A special group is spreading misinformation on social media. In each case of misinformation, the Ministry of Education has produced books and provided evidence.
He said this in response to questions from journalists after a program organized by mountaineering organization ‘Abhiyatri’ at the National Press Club in the capital on Saturday. He was the chief guest at the event.
Yesterday Friday, the Emir of Islamic Movement of Bangladesh, Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, complained of narrowing religious education in the new curriculum.
Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, speaking as the chief guest at the 31st founding anniversary gathering organized by Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh at Shahbagh square in the capital, said that Islamic education has been strategically narrowed down in collective assessment and by excluding science and commerce sections from the science and commerce section in the eleventh-twelfth class and keeping it optional in the humanities section. As a result, the door will be opened for the development of corrupt future generations without ethics.
When asked about the comment of Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, the education minister said today that the knowledge and values in the current education system are not limited, but the government is working to expand it. There, religion, morality, values are an integral part of education and remain so. There is no question of dropping religious education.
He further said that any special education is being narrowed down, such comments are not really correct at all.
In response to another question, Dipu Moni said that misinformation is being spread without knowing the new curriculum. Without finding any other issue, a special section on social media is doing this as part of anti-government propaganda. As many propaganda videos as there are, in each case the government shows proof that they are completely false.
