A school student died after being hit by a truck on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway.

The accident took place on Thursday (August 25) at Sarighat Sarufoud Patharghata on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway at around 8:30 am.

The deceased child student is Jamil Ahmad (9), son of Sarufoud (Sarighat) village Khalilur Rahman.

It is known that Jamil went to study in the mosque on Thursday morning like every day. While returning home from there, a speeding truck from Sylhet hit Jaflong and he died on the spot. On hearing the news of this incident, the locals got angry and blocked the Sylhet-Tamabil highway for about an hour. Hundreds of vehicles got stuck in it. Later, the local police lifted the blockade when the police reached the spot and assured proper investigation of the dead child who confessed to the accident.

Jaintapur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Dastgir Ahmed has confirmed the truth of this matter. He said that the burial of the dead child has been completed with the permission of the District Commissioner
