The wife of an Omani expatriate was murdered in Baluchar, Sylhet city. The police recovered the body of the woman from outside the locked house. The body was recovered by breaking the lock of Baluchar Focus-364 house at around 11:30 pm on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a two-year-old child (girl) of the woman was rescued from inside the house and admitted to Osmani Medical College Hospital.

According to the national identity card, the house of deceased Afia Begum (31) is in Goainghat. His father’s name is Azir Uddin. There are injury marks on his body.

According to local sources, Afia Begum, the wife of an Omani expatriate, lived with her daughter on the ground floor of a five-storey house in Focus-364 Sikandar Mahal. Residents of other flats of the house became suspicious because of the stench coming from inside the house on Tuesday night. When they found the door of the house closed from outside, they informed the police. The police came and broke the lock and entered and found the body of the woman lying on the bed.

Locals said that they saw injury marks on the woman’s body while recovering the body. It is believed that miscreants may have killed the woman 2-3 days ago. Police rescued Afia Begum’s two-year-old daughter from inside the house and sent her to Osmani Hospital.

Police have collected CCTV footage of the house.
